This modernist style building was designed by the architect Antoni Gaud\u00ed and built between 1891 and 1892. In this article, we will tell you some curiosities, its history and its museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"History_of_Casa_Botines\"><\/span>History of Casa Botines<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The story begins in 1891 when Sim\u00f3n Fern\u00e1ndez and Mariano Andr\u00e9s, textile entrepreneurs, <strong>commissioned the famous Catalan architect Antoni Gaud\u00ed to construct a building<\/strong>. Gaud\u00ed designed a modernist-style building with a stone and brick fa\u00e7ade that imitates the shape of a medieval castle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1929, Casa Botines was acquired by Caja de Ahorros y Monte de Piedad de Le\u00f3n, which converted it into its headquarters. For many years, the building housed the offices of the savings bank, until it was acquired by the City of Le\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since then, Casa Botines has been restored and converted into a museum. During this process, the old sculpture of the dragon was removed and a lead tube was found inside. This tube contained a timetable of the work, certifying the duration of the construction, which was ten months, something unheard of at the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, inside the lead tube were the original plans for the Casa Botines, which were signed by the master Gaud\u00ed. These plans are an invaluable piece of architectural history and were carefully guarded by the Botines House Foundation. The museum has several rooms where you can see models, drawings and photographs of Gaud\u00ed&#8217;s most emblematic works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, in the museum you can see several original objects such as lamps, furniture and ceramic pieces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you visit Le\u00f3n and you want to learn about the history of Catalan modernism, Casa Botines is a must-see.
